The Downs Stables are set in Findon, a beautiful village right on the Sussex downs that has been a racing village since the 1800’s. It’s a truly family run yard where Nick Gifford took over the reins from his father  Josh Gifford in 2003.

Nick's yard at The Downs Stables gives horses a stress free environment where turnout is available and individual training needs catered for. The very experienced staff, work riders and family ensure that each of the horses and owners get individual special attention - one of the great benefits of having a smaller yard.  Olympic three day eventer Tina Cook ( Nicks sister)  is on hand to do specific schooling and training when horses need it.  Owners are welcome and encouraged to visit their horses any day of the week.

The training facilities at Findon are outstanding with traditional grass gallops, an all weather gallop stretching to just under a mile, a horse walker, two outdoor arenas, a beautiful schooling ground with a wide range of fences, not to mention endless miles of rolling downs to safely hack over.

Although the vast majority of the horses we have in the yard currently are jumpers, Nick trains both flat and jump horses. At Findon we are very lucky to have the facilities perfect to train for the flat too, many successful flat horses have been trained on the beautiful gallops here by Captain Ryan Price. It certainly is time for a revival.
