10th August- Stable News

The sun is shining again after some very wet weather ! and all is well. We have all had a hectic summer so far with the opening of our new self catering holiday lets . www.thedownsstablesholidays.co.uk

Nearly all our horses are now back in and back in work. Quite a lot of them have done very well on the grass this summer and have a few pounds to lose. Our two three year olds that we bought at Doncaster are cantering away. One has been named "Rum Cove" already and found some lovely new owners. One is FOR SALE and I will put up a post soon about him. He is by a NEW upcoming sire "Jet Away" stable name Elton.

For National Racehorse week we are fully booked and have 35 people coming to visit our yard. They will get to see all the horses including Straw Bear. We have the horse dentist in doing a demonstration and a farrier. There will also be light refreshments.

Belargus is coming back from Ireland tomorrow. We also have lots of NEW horses coming to us for this season, which is great. We hope to have 35 horses this year which will be nearly double from a couple of years ago. So hopefully we can keep building the momentum.

I am delighted to say we have a NEW Kalanisi filly coming at the end of August called "MISSFIT" and I am very excited to say we are training her for Heart Racing and Broadwell Stud. We can't wait to meet her.

We also have two new fillies coming from Ireland in the next week or so. A three year old by the stallion "Califet" out of "Cove" who we trained for the Nick Gifford Racing club and also a yearling filly by " Camacho" out of Findora who will run on the flat as a two year old.

Everything to look forward to fo the season ahead.
