We have gone from freezing temperatures to wet and wild, resulting in testing horrible ground on the tracks. The horses had a quite week last week with everything being frozen, just able to keep them cantering on the deep grass gallops and ticking over. Back to full work this week and some extra fresh ones on Monday as always.
Tabitha Worsley and James Davies came in yesterday to school the horses over the jumps , which went very well.
Tomorrow we have two horses running at Sandown Park. First we have Belargus running in the 1:55 Sandown 18 FEB 2021 RTV 1m7½f (1m7f119y) Elmbridge Handicap Chase (Class 3) (5yo+ 0-130). Seven runners go to post and he is on great form. It will be interesting to see if he copes with the ground, but we are hopeful of a positive run. Belargus Will be ridden by Niall Houlihan and will be led up by Izzy Mills who rides him everyday at home. Belargus belongs to J.P.McManus.
Then we have. along wait until the last race, "Itsnotwhatyouthink" runs in the 4:50 Sandown 18 FEB 2021 RTV 2m4f (2m3f173y) Richmond Novices' Handicap Hurdle (GBB Race) (Class 4) (4yo+ 0-120). James Davies will be on board and 14 runners go to post. Izzy Mills will be leading up "Itsnotwhatyouthink" AKA "Boris" and Andrew Veale our Travelling head lad will be unhand as always. Boris is a very nice young horse , future chaser. He is still learning the game and still needs to mature/fill out. We are looking for a positive run and a good round of jumping. Boris belongs to "The Bowtells" and "Sarah Cotty". so Good Luck to connections and Team Gifford.
