it feels like Spring is on its way now, what a difference a few days make.
It was great to see Belargus win at Sandown on Friday under Niall Houlihan for J.P.McManus. He has really clicked with Belargus and everything came together on the day. We have always thought a lot of the horse and look forward to the future with him. He jumped the last as if it was the first, still full of spring and running. Izzy Mills who led him up rides him everyday at home and the whole team are over the moon.
Itsnotwhatyouthink hated the ground , he is a lovely young horse and we will wait for some better ground . The hurdle track is always much worse than the chase track at Sandown . James looked after him . He also lost a shoe , very tiring ground.
Today we have two runners at Kempton Park on the flat . Twelve runners go to post. It is a fact finding mission with Zuba. This looks like a very competitive race, we think he will come on for the run, he is a very laid back horse at home and we think he will need that first run. He has also had a wind op since being here following his run in hideous ground at Doncaster where he stopped very quickly. It normally takes a couple of runs for the horse to adjust following a wind op, so we will see. We like him a lot and he has a bright future over hurdles too. He is a natural at home but will prefer the better ground. So we are very relaxed about his run today, we will learn a lot more about him.
