31st October 2020

Yesterday we had two runners at Ascot . Northern Poet ran in the first race . 2mile 3f conditional jockeys handicap hurdle . Tabitha Worsley took the ride . NP is owned by the hope springs partnership and is a lovely horse who was third at Exeter last time out and won is bumper at Lingfield .

Then we had Wee Rupert having his debut in the bumper . Wee Rupert is a 4 year old gelding by “Shirroco” and is owned by the “ Blows hot and cold “ syndicate . James Davies took the ride and we were just looking for a positive first run .

Northern Poet hated the ground and was never travelling . So Tabitha just nursed him Round and got him to finish . At least we have answered that question . Unfortunately all the rain today had not helped and there is was little good in the good to soft ground . The main thing is he is back in one piece and has had a lovely hot shower and is taking a rest !

Rupert had a pleasing debut in the bumper in tough conditions to finish 6th . He was green and the race was not really run to suit him . But really pleased with his attitude and how he coped with his first day out . It’s a shame the bumper was the last, as the ground was more challenging and the rain had really got in. It was not the good to soft we had hoped for . However he will have learnt a lot from and we

look forward to his next run . He certainly did not did disgrace himself with some stiff ( expensive ) competition.
