Today we had two runners at Newton Abbot Racecourse ...a long drive but beautiful course.
Our first runner Mr Daytona ridden by James Davies today having his last run to see if he showed anything in the way of any attributes towards making a career as a racehorse. It is safe to say he would prefer an alternative career. Lizzie led up Tony today.
James said he was not interested from the get go. He is a lovely Milan gelding with a super temperament. His owners mum is going to have him, she has had her eye on him since he arrived. So happy retirement to "Tony" I will report on his NEW adventures on the retired racehorse page going forward .
Then we had Grand Sabre for The Nick Gifford racing club who ran a very solid race to finish 4th, he found the track a little tight and the ground a little quick and he also ripped a front shoe off. It is still only his third start over fences. We will look for a bigger galloping track and possibly s step back in trip and slightly softer ground. James was thrilled with how he jumped and travelled throughout the race. George Sturgis led up Sabre.
Now the long drive home.
