On Thursday we went down the road to our local track Fontwell with three runners on what was a beautiful day, it has been dry and sunny for a couple of weeks now and being on chalk everything drys out quickly.

Our first runner "Flimsy Nosebag" ran in the 2:10Fontwell 6 Mar 2025BetGoodwin New UK Bookie Maiden Hurdle (GBB Race)(Class 4) (4yo+) (2m1f162yds) 2m1½f Good To Soft 9 hurdles.

He ran very green and really overjumed the hurdles, it seemed like the track was a bit tight maybe for him on the drying ground and he was always out of his comfort zone. James said he just felt green and babyish still. They also went quite quick and he is clearly going to need much further in time. So we will look for some softer ground and to step him up in trip in the future. He finsihed 9th. Post race he is a little sore in his back which may also explain the run and jumping, so he is being fully checked out by the vet and we will also get a physio to look at him. The result definately did not show his full potential. He will be a horse to run in handicaps.

Our second runner Low Expectations ran in the 3:40Fontwell 6 Mar 2025

BetGoodwin Free Bet Nose Losers Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) (0-105, 4yo+) (2m3f29yds) 2m3f Good To Soft 10 hurdle with James Davies on board, he actually jumped and travelled really well, will just need tos tep up in trip in time. it all happened a bit to quick for him. He is still learning the game and finished 7th.

Last but not least was Koenigsttern , who ran very dissapointingly , whether he did not enjoy the drying ground or they went a shade too quick for him and he was out of his comfort zone, only time will tell. He has felt really good at home. So again he will be fully checked out and have a physio session . We will see how he comes out of the race. May be he was just having an off day.

Anyway lots of learnings to be taken and onwards and upwards.
