A blustery day in Findon today but at least our lovely team stayed dry riding out this morning. As everyone knows the industry ( not just ours) is facing staff shortages and with two key staff off with injuries and illness at the moment it has been a tough few weeks for the team. The good news is we had a lovely girl come for a trial yesterday who has accepted the job to start in December. This is to replace lovely Ella Bibi Rohman who is taking a break from racing and pursuing
a different career path.
Kilford's Queen really found it too hard work on Tuesday at Southwell, the track had 20mm of rain over night and the ground had gone soft , after travelling all that way we decided to run her anyway but she pulled up after travelling fine for two circuits. She is proving to be a bit of an enigma as she struggles to finish her races no matter the ground or. trip, she has been fully checked out by the vet, but as a last stone to be unturned we have sent her to be gastro- scoped to day at our amazing Equine Vets in Sussex. We are just wondering if it could be ulcers. If they find nothing we will give her another run in some headgear and make a decision on her future from there. In the meantime we are looking at potential replacement horses to lease for the club, if she does retire.
