Notre Ami had his first run of the season following a wind op. His last two runs last season were so disappointing and he was not finishing his races. Yesterday he jumped the first as if it was a fence and then improved. He was very gassy early on which lead to him getting very tired in the finish. He dragged his back legs through the last hurdle which probably cost him third place. If he had pinged the last he would have finished a better, he finished 5th. He definitely needed the run and we will find a similar race in a few weeks in which we would hope to see further improvement. He has come out of his race absolutely fine.
We then had the "Nick Gifford Racing Club" runner in the mares bumper "Jungle Prose". We are always very nervous and excited to see their first run. We were very very pleased with her efforts, especially her attitude. She was very green in running and got a fair old bumping about, but at the business end of the race really ran on. She finished 6th in the end. ( only a length and a neck behind 3rd) and she will come on hugely for the experience. She loved the ground and we will step her up in trip as it was just a bit short for her. James Davies was very pleased with her debut and we are all excited about how her future journey will unfold. She behaved very well in the paddock and afterwards, which we were surprised about as she can be a bit of a madam !! She is ridden everyday by Izzy Mills who loves her dearly and all her funny ways. Izzy does not work afternoons, but came over to lead her up ! She has come out of the race great and ate all her dinner and breakfast !! Good Girl
