Well its a bit like being in Spain here in Findon with this hot weather. We have had a busy few weeks with the sales last week in Doncaster, where we bought two lovely new horses. We bought a 3 year old store horse by "Getaway"out of the Dam " Total Gossip" from the family of "Straw Bear" . We went to see him ( obviously had to check him out) and just fell in love with him as an individual and his temperament/attitude. He has a lovely walk and trot. We are now breaking him in and he will be ready to run in a bumper early Spring.
We also bought a 5 year old filly by "Robin Des Champs" out of the mare "Old Dreams" who we used to train. She is called Simply Supreme and is owned by a newly formed partnership. She was second in a P2P and is a big 16.2hh future chaser.
Belargus and El Tornado arrived back from Ireland on Friday too looking very well indeed.
A new lease filly arrived from Ireland by " Finsceal Fior" out of a very nice french bred mare "Lounas" She will make a lovely dual purpose filly for either a syndicate or someone to take her on as a whole. She is available on a three year lease with just training fees to pay for.
All our staff are back. We have a new full time member of staff George who used to just ride out for us. The legend that is "Gerry Enright" is back riding out for another season looking fabulous after a good break and lots of cycling. We also have Tina Cook ( sister) riding out too. Tina will ride out youngsters and those feeling a bit stiff, concentrating on getting them moving correctly and using themselves properly. Her input is invaluable.
I hate to say it but we need some rain very soon......the grass is looking very brown !!
